The Sr. Functional Safety Engineer will demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and competency with safety systems engineering and specifications development. Must demonstrate the ability to work to a high standard of professionalism within a team environment.Requirements: 10 + years’ experience in Safety Systems Engineering and Applications Consulting
Education:
BS in Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Functional Safety Certification required (TÜV FSE, exida CFSP, or ISA84 SIS Fundamentals | Preferred Certifications - exida CFSE or ISA84 SIS Expert or TÜV Rheinland FSExpert)
PMP Preferred
Technical Competencies
Must be highly experienced in all aspects of safety lifecycle management, including development of PHA/LOPAs, identification of hazards, allocation of safeguards, allocation of Independent Protection Layers (IPLs), Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), logic narrative development, and SIL Calculations.
In addition, experience with development of test and validation procedures is required.
Knowledge of PLC/SIS programming and panel design, as well as integration of PLC/SIS to DCS and other auxiliary PLCs.
Ability to lead efforts with commissioning/cutovers, loop checks, logic validation/testing, and provide start up assistance/troubleshooting. Knowledge of SRS document generation using at least one or more of the following Safety Lifecycle Management software packages: exSILentia V3/V4, SILSolver, aeShield, or Safety Lifecycle Manager (SLM).
Other Skills/Qualifications:
Experience with SLIM Process writing required
Experience with IPL Assessments, SIL Calculations, Safety Requirement Specs, and Safety Lifecycle Management Software required
Experience with SIS/PLC Platforms including Emerson Delta V (CSLS and SLS), Triconex and/or Yokogawa Prosafe preferred
