Recruiters Passionate about Passive Tech Candidates

During our last downturn, businesses focused on cutting costs and staying alive and didn't do much investing in technology. Now that the Great Recession is over, there is a lot of pent-up demand to improve efficiency, work flow and business processes.

That demand - from a variety of sectors including energy, health care, finance and manufacturing - has put application developers and enterprise resource planning developers in the catbird seat.

If they want a job, they can have a job, said Tony Pannagl, managing partner of IS&T, an information technology staffing firm in Houston. Once a candidate is on the market, he or she will have two or three offers in a couple of weeks. And salaries are up 15 to 20 percent this year compared with last year, he said.
