Tony Pannagl is one of those employers with little tolerance.
If an employee is arrested for possessing illegal drugs, it's grounds for dismissal, said the managing partner of IS&T, an information technology consulting firm with 70 employees. Arrested under a felony? Immediate dismissal, he said.
"Our insurance policies for professional liability and workers compensation prohibit us from hiring felons, and we can't keep them employed," said Pannagl, who said the rules are in the employee handbook.
He said he needs to be extra careful because his employees work in client offices.
