Civil/Structural Designer
Seeking Civil/Structural Designer - Houston, TX
This is a professional position for a civil/structural AutoCAD designer (heavy civil emphasis) performing design of grading and drainage plans, stormwater layout, pipeline alignments sheet(s), and cut/fill calculations utilized in heavy industrial/manufacturing facilities or as required by our Clients. The candidate will be responsible for completing civil/structural design tasks while working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven atmosphere. All work will be supervised by a licensed professional civil or structural engineer.

Primary Job Tasks:
Apply basic formulas, principles, and practices to prepare designs related to grading and drainage, roadways, erosion control, storm water, and paving for midstream and downstream oil & gas EPC projects.
Develop drawings for production work including design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of various complexity.
Execute changes to designs or sketches and mark-ups on ongoing projects.
Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
Report volume calculations for excavation and site grading.
Revise existing drawings and prepare new drawings from detailed sketches, explicit verbal and/or written instructions.
Collaborate with Engineers in developing final civil site drawings and completing design tasks using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Prepare final construction drawings & update per engineer comments.
Act as lead civil designer.
Work with a civil engineer to understand the nature of the design & associated drawings.
Coordinate with all disciplines to create an accurate & complete design.
Provide input on design estimates & schedules.
Secondary Job Tasks:
Design of heavy industrial/manufacturing structures.
Prepare 3D models of the foundation or steel structure(s) using AutoCAD & Advanced Steel (Ability/Willingness to Learn).
Prepare final construction drawings & update per engineer comments.
Work with a structural engineer to understand the nature of the design & associated drawings.
Coordinate with all disciplines to create an accurate & complete design.
Prepare a Bill of Materials for required concrete or structural steel.
Provide input on design estimates & schedules.
Other tasks as delegated by supervisor.
